The prediction comes from Xie Zhenhua (解振華), the deputy head of China's peak economic planning agency - the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Although the article quotes Xie as saying the percent of the total population living in cities at the end of 2010 as 47.5, which is less than the 49.68% figure published by the National Bureau of Statistics in April this year, according to the data collected in the once-a-decade census carried out in Nov 2010.
