In the aftermath of the severe snow storm that hit southern China last month, coal shortages and rebuilding have led to a surge in steel prices. Many steel producers have been unable to cope with the excessive demand from their customers, which have been placing unusually large orders to stockpile in anticipation of even higher prices.
