By the Numbers: China's Economic Data for October
Trade: The General Administration of Customs recently released a report on the total volume of imports and exports. According to the GAC, this year's total trade volume is 239.341 billion US dollars, up 36.3% from the same period last year.
Gross foreign export value increased by 32.7%, to 1270.59 billion US dollars; while gross imports increased 40.5% to 1122.82 billion US dollars.
The trade surplus decreased by 6.7% to 147.77 billion US dollars.
Loans: Loans increased by 587.7 billion yuan in October.
According to the Central Bank, M2 was at 69980 billion yuan by the end of October, with a year-on-year growth rate of 19.3%. M2 growth rate was up 0.3 percentage points from September.
China's M1 was at 25330 billion yuan, having risen 22.1% on the level of the same period last year.
Foreign loans increased by 5.9 billion dollars.
Real Estate: In over 70 large and medium sized cities housing prices have increased by 8.6%. In the first 10 months of this year, total investment in the real estate market amounted to 3807 billion yuan with a year-on-year growth rate of 36.5%. In October, total investment in real estate development was 455.8 billion, with an increase of 37%. The area of commercial buildings sold totaled 724 million square meters, with a year-on-year growth rate of 9.1%. The area growth rate in October increased by 0.9%.
The National Bureau of Statistics also released statistics related to the real estate confidence index. The index in October was 10.357, 0.05 higher than that of September, and 1.54 points higher than last year.
Car Sales: Recent customs statistics show that car imports continue to rapidly grow. According to the China Automobile Association, from January to October, 14.6238 million were manufactured domestically, and 14.67 million cars were sold. In the first nine months of this year, 552,000 cars were imported, a year-on-year increase of 139.9%. In September, over 60,000 imported cars were granted licenses, with a year-on-year growth of 74.5%.
