SARFT Rules Direct Sales Programs to be Treated as Ads

The State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) released an announcement stating that as of Jan 1, 2010, all direct sales programs will be treated as advertisements. As such, news and international channels will be prohibited from broadcasting such programs and satellite TV will not be allowed to program this kind of content between 6pm and midnight.
