The Beijing News reports that the large fall of snow and dramatic drop in temperature that hit Beijing and other parts of northern China over the weekend, were the worst weather that the capital has seen in decades. Hundreds of flights from Beijing's capital airport have been delayed or cancelled, public transport has been effected and school students and even many employees have been told to stay at home. If realized, today's forecast maximum of -9 degrees ℃ will be the coldest maximum daytime temperature recorded in the capital since 1951.
