PhDs in China Increased Five-fold over Past Ten Years

At the beginning of August, Huazhong University of Science and Technology Professor Zhou Guangli published the shocking results of his survey on the quality of China’s PhDs. 46% of PhD advisors have more than 7 PhD advisees, and one professor surveyed even had 47. 13% of PhD students only meet with their advisor once a month and 3% have not met with their advisor at all.
