In 2010, the per capita GDP of Guangdong Province reached 36,990 yuan, or about 7,000 US dollars. The GDP of Guangdong now exceeds the GDP of Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and is forecast to overtake South Korea's in 2020. Guangdong's GDP is now equal to many other developed countries.
