Average Salary of Financial Sector Employees Over 15 Times that of Other Industries

According to media reports, quoting figures from a recent report released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS), in 2008, the average salary of an employee working in China's financial sector, the highest paid sector in the country, was 15.93 times that of those working in lowest paid sector - livestock and animal husbandry. A representative of the MOHRSS research institute responded to media reports yesterday by emphasizing that China’s salary gap was not the largest in the world and that the size of gap has been decreasing each year.
