Yesterday afternoon, the Yueqing People's Court in Zhejiang province sentenced Qian Chengyu to 20 months prison on charges of obstructing a public officer. The trial is related to the high-profile case of Qian Yunhui (no relation), who died after being run over by a truck in December last year. Qian's co-accused, Wang Xiangqiu was sentenced to a 1 year prison term, with an 18-month suspended sentence. According to the court, the two men beat plain-clothes police who had been sent to investigate the traffic incident that resulted in Qian Yunhui's death. The driver of the truck that ran over Qian Yunhui was sentenced to 3 and a half year prison term that was upheld on appeal earlier this year.
