As China’s rapid economic growth and recent fawning over the "China Model" seem to suggest, there are unquestionable advantages to the country’s political system. But what exactly are these advantages? And just as importantly, what do the Chinese think about them?

This month, People's Tribune Magazine (人民論壇雜志) asked the public and 105 political experts and government cadres for their opinions on the country’s political system.

In the survey of experts and cadres:
85% of participants believed there are advantages to China’s political system.
Less than 10% believed that there are no advantages to China’s political system.

But when the same question was posed to 1,000 public participants:
70% responded that they did not understand what the advantages of China’s political system were, and could not care less.

Public participants were then asked to vote for the biggest advantages of the China system:

23.45% chose the centralized system that permits rapid mobilization of large resources
17.22% cited the communist leadership
15.88% chose political stability
8.9% chose the blend of Chinese tradition with socialist thought
Only 7.45% cited the close bond between the government and the people

Government cadres, asked the same question, gave the following responses:

34.55% cited the communist leadership.
25.77% cited the multi-party cooperation behind Communist leadership and the system of political consultation.
22.46% chose the blend of Chinese tradition with socialist thought.
7.94% chose the close bond between the government and the people.
6.7% cited the tradition of ideological discipline and hard work.
