Chinese Women Found to be More Ambitious than American Women

America’s Newsweek Magazine recently announced the results of a study comparing the professional ambitions of Chinese and American women. The study found that roughly 2/3 of highly educated women in China are “very ambitions”, compared to only 1/3 of female American college graduates. Additionally, more than 75 percent of Chinese women surveyed reported longing for executive positions. Reasons for greater female ambition in China include a lack of institutional barriers to women, the need for larger incomes to counter increasing costs of living, and changing societal views on gender roles.
