China to Open Up Art Galleries and Libraries for Free

Yesterday, the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Finance issued an official document that calls on provincial governments to allow free access to all public libraries, art galleries and culture centers around the country by the end of the year. According to the document, by the end of 2011, all of China's national- and provincial-level public art galleries will be open to the public for free and all public libraries and cultural centers will provide free access to their basic services.
