NDRC to Prevent Excessive Expansion of Large Cities

Yang Weimin, general secretary of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said at a forum in Shanghai yesterday that over the next 5 years, Chinese authorities would attempt to set reasonable limits on the growth of cities and prevent the excessive expansion of the country's largest cities. Mr. Yang also said that the NDRC would research and implement a special plan to guide the development of China's urbanization.
