As problems with overcapacity continue to plague the country's electrolytic aluminum sector, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), along with eight other ministerial agencies, will issue a notice announcing a temporary halt to the approval of electrolytic aluminum projects, Su Bo, deputy director of the NDRC told a reporter with the Economic Information Daily. According to an insider, the notice will be issued soon and could effect up to 70 billion yuan worth of projects. Electrolytic aluminum projects that are currently under construction are said not be effected by the impending announcement.
