New Deputy Mayor for Chongqing

This morning at a meeting of the standing committee of Chongqing's Municipal People's Congress, Wang Lijun was unanimously elected as one of the deputy mayors of the city. Wang has served as the head of the city's Public Security Bureau since March 2009, overseeing the high-profile crackdown on gang-related crime in the city. In addition to Wang Lijun, eight other individuals were appointed to positions in the Chongqing municipal government.
